Birkbeck is Re-Selected to Teach Parliamentary Studies
Birkbeck College is one of 23 universities to be again selected to offer the Parliamentary Studies Module from 2024/25 onwards.
The applications were judged by a panel of staff from the Houses of Parliament.
Parliamentary Studies is the only higher education module formally approved by the Houses of Parliament and is co-taught by university tutors and officials from the Houses of Parliament. The aim of the module is to provide students with a detailed knowledge of how Parliament works in both theory and practice and is delivered in collaboration with the Houses of Parliament.
The Parliamentary Studies Module has been delivered at Birkbeck since 2013/4. Past students on the course have met MPs, Peers, and the Speaker of the Commons and also submitted evidence to a Select Committee http://rzr.tmu.mybluehost.me/birkbecks-parliamentary-studies-class-submit-evidence-to-parliament/
Matthew Davies, Executive Dean of the Faculty Of Humanities and Social Sciences said: “Parliamentary Studies has pride of place here at Birkbeck as an innovative and cutting-edge module, bringing together the theory and practice of Politics. We are delighted to be running it again”.
