The Right to Food: in conversation with Ian Byrne MP and Sarah Woolley, General Secretary of the Bakers, Food, and Allied Workers Union

In conversation about the nation-wide Right to Food campaign, and discuss how the labour movement as a whole can bring structural change
Please note: this event has now been cancelled.
'The pathologies of the UK's broken food system have been brought into sharp focus during the pandemic as entrenched social inequalities appear in the form of food insecurity across households, communities and workplaces. A recent Bakers' Union survey of food workers found that 1 in 5 of respondents themselves relied on the support of friends and family for their daily meals, while millions of adults and children endure food poverty every day.
Labour MP Ian Byrne and General Secretary of the BFAWU (Bakers, Food and Allied Workers Union) Sarah Woolley will be in conversation with Professor Alex Colás from Birkbeck's Politics Department to hear about the nation-wide Right to Food campaign, and discuss how the labour movement as a whole can bring structural change for food justice domestically and internationally.'
